Sovereign Stitches + Wild Weaves LIVE: Sovereignty Kiki Ball

Dream Room (1088, Clark Street) - Paid activity | Space limited, reservations required

Co-Presented by Indigenous Fashion Arts and Montreal Kiki Ballroom Alliance

This activity is part of the Sovereign Stitches + Wild Weaves opening week program.

Indigenous Fashion Arts and the Montreal Kiki Ballroom Alliance (MKBA) join forces to bring you the Sovereignty Kiki Ball for SS+WW LIVE, the first of its kind in Montreal, merging cultures between Indigenous arts and Ballroom worlds.

Sovereignty is defined as the inherent right of Indigenous peoples to govern themselves, their land, their cultures, and their resources independently of outside control. While our histories carry distinct struggles, Indigenous and Ballroom communities stand united in the fight to reclaim space, assert self-determination, and thrive beyond colonial and white dominant systems.

Built by and for Black, Brown, Indigenous, and racialized queer and trans folks, this is a call to all walkers and spectators: come claim your space, embody your power, and show us what thriving looks like on your own terms.

Creative Direction and Graphic Design for the Sovereignty Kiki Ball by GG 007 (Géorgie Gagné).

Montreal Kiki Ballroom Alliance

About

The Montreal Kiki Ballroom Alliance is a community-driven organization dedicated to nurturing and growing Montréal’s Kiki Ballroom scene, with a particular focus on young Black, trans, and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Through ballroom events, workshops, mentorship, and community-building initiatives, the Alliance creates accessible spaces for self-expression, artistic development, and identity celebration. Rooted in ballroom culture’s traditions of chosen family, resilience, and resistance, the organization empowers young people to develop their talents, build meaningful connections, and access opportunities while ensuring the culture continues to thrive for future generations.

As a member of MKBA’s board and event committee, Kamel Siriano (Khalil Chaar) is bringing his experience in project management and community initiatives to create meaningful events and build bridges between communities.
