Donations and Loans
Moratorium
The McCord Stewart Museum has decided to place a moratorium on new acquisitions for a period of three years effective on April 1, 2020. This respite period is necessary in order to allow the institution to review its policies taking into account the significant growth of its collections over the past decade, to reorganize its space needs and to undertake the processing of all uncatalogued collections and fonds. We thank all those who wish to donate objects and invite you to contact us when the moratorium is lifted.
Appraisals
Please note that in accordance with the International Council of Museums (ICOM) Code of Ethics for Museums, the Museum staff does not offer financial appraisals or valuations of objects to the general public. We suggest you contact the Art Dealers Association of Canada Inc. or the The Canadian Antique Dealers Association.
Objects Loans
In accordance with its collections access policy, the Museum authorizes loans of object to other museums under certain conditions. The Museum generally loans objects when the institutions requesting the loan meet environmental and security standards that guarantee their safe display. Our loan procedures are outlined in the following document.
