A day to celebrate in pyjamas | Holidays at the Museum

Rediscover your inner child this holiday season at the McCord Stewart Museum! Bring the whole family to the Museum and get into the holiday spirit with a day of fun and festivities.

To celebrate the return of Ogilvy’s traditional mechanical Christmas windows, which have delighted Montrealers for more than 75 years, the Museum invites you to a special day filled with stories and holiday magic, presented by Place Montréal Trust.

On Saturday, November 14, pull on your favourite pyjamas and join us for a host of free holiday activities.

A full day of festive fun!

• Marvel at Ogilvy’s iconic mechanical Christmas windows and 21 Santa figurines from the Macdonald Stewart Foundation Collection.
• Take part in a fun Hide and Seek game.
• Explore the exhibition Carrie Allison: askōhtēskanohwē and take part in the workshop Rooted Stories: When Plants Tell the Story of Place.
• Discover the exhibition Indigenous Voices of Today: Knowledge, Trauma, Resilience and the many stories it holds with the Natu-natshishkueu: The Adventure of Connection exploration booklet. This family activity is presented by Hydro-Québec.
• Take a break to enjoy a lively, humorous storytelling session with Eric Michaud, storyteller and historian and a collaborator with the Festival interculturel du conte de Montréal.
  Limited space! Important: Reservation upon arrival at the Museum. First come, first served!
• Enjoy performances by the Ensemble vocal Artémis – un cœur de femmes, accompanied by piano, and the Canticorum Chorale multiculturelle de Montréal, a mixed-voice choir accompanied by instruments.

Activities for every interest

• Storytime | Space limited – Important: You must reserve your spot when arriving at the Museum.
  In French: 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.+ Reading will be interpreted in sign language 10:30 a.m.
  In English: 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  Recommended for children aged 2 and up. Duration: 20 minutes.
• Face-painting workshop: a favourite with the little ones!
  9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Family workshop: Rooted Stories: When Plants Tell the Story of Place.
  Inspired by the world of Carrie Allison, this family workshop invites participants to discover a native Quebec plant and create a portrait of it. By observing its shape, habitat and relationships with other living things, participants imagine the stories it might hold within.
  Drop in anytime between 9 a.m. and 17 p.m.
