Press Release
A first partnership to build the Museum’s new sponsorship program
Montreal, June 16, 2025 – In keeping with its goal to strengthen its social and cultural mission, the McCord Stewart Museum today unveiled its new Premier Partner program to secure major ongoing support for its activities. The program has launched thanks to a first significant partnership with Power Corporation of Canada, which has renewed its long-standing commitment to the Museum that began in 1988.
The Premier Partner program is structured around five main themes—Montreal Stories, Photography, Fashion, Indigenous Cultures, and Youth and Family—that reflect the guiding principles of the Museum’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, sustainability and decolonization.
“The McCord Stewart Museum is very honoured to launch its new Premier Partner program with Power Corporation of Canada. This proud Montreal company is known for its ongoing and generous commitment to culture across the country. This sign of confidence in the Museum attests not only to the institution’s essential role in the community but also to the relevance and scope of its mission and actions. The program, which aims to secure four other Premier Partners, will strengthen the foundations of the Museum and let it pursue its mission as steward of the city’s memory. The goal is also to showcase the individual creativity and community vitality that make Montreal what it is today,” said Anne Eschapasse, President and Chief Executive Officer of the McCord Stewart Museum.
“Through its exciting series of exhibitions entitled Montréalité, the McCord Stewart Museum positions itself once again as a leader in the preservation and celebration of Montreal’s heritage. Power Corporation of Canada is proud to be the Premier Partner of this project, supporting one of Montreal‘s flagship institutions. With this programming, the McCord will play an exciting role in the city, presenting exhibitions and activities where the personality of Montreal will be reflected and expressed. We hope to see other leading corporations also become involved as Partners. Supporting a socially engaged museum of memory is a concrete way to build a community that is culturally richer and more cohesive,” said Paul Genest, Senior Vice-President, Power Corporation of Canada.
