Program 1
Activity 1 | Exhibition visit
On the guided tour of On the Menu – Montreal: A Restaurant Story exhibition, visitors discover the extraordinary diversity of Montreal’s restaurant scene, from the 1960s to today. Explore the exhibition while having a blast: this tour includes fun facts about Montreal restaurants, eye-spy games in the galleries, and creative activities. Bonus challenge: look for the pig Tire-Bouchon, who’s hiding in the four corners of the exhibition!
Activity 2 | Workshop: Menu Mash Up
This workshop invites food lovers of all ages to discover the vintage menus in the McCord Stewart Museum archives, which provide a tasty glimpse into the popular dishes and trends of years past. The activity will start with an exploration of some of the mouthwatering meals, eye-popping illustrations and jaw-dropping prices on the Montreal restaurant scene over time. Participants will then get to dream up a dining experience of their own, complete with an original concept and a multi-course menu.
Program 2
Activity 1 | Exhibition visit
To mark the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, the Museum is presenting an exhibition that celebrates this landmark event in the contemporary history of Montreal, Quebec and Canada. Featuring a rich collection of documents and objects — including clothing, archives, posters, cartoons, photographs and artefacts — the exhibition Montreal 1976: An Olympic Feat explores the many facets of the Games. During their visit, campers will embark on a quest to help Montreal win its bid to become a host city, tackling seven exciting challenges on the path to victory.
Activity 2 | Workshop: Olympic PosterPalooza
During the Olympic PosterPalooza workshop, campers will take a closer look at some of the most famous posters produced to promote the Montreal Olympic Games and familiarize themselves with the creative techniques in vogue in the 1970s. They will then have fun coming up with their own layout using the pre-digital tools at their disposal. This hands-on activity offers a fascinating exploration of “Swiss style,” one of the most popular design trends of the time.
