A Week at the Museum

This educational program is offered free of charge to Montreal elementary school children. Created in collaboration with elementary school teachers and A Montreal School for All, the program aims to encourage schoolchildren to strive for academic success through a unique, educational and interactive approach to history and learning.

For one week, classes are invited to pursue their school curriculum at the Museum and discover the collections as well as the work of our curators. Through stimulating and immersive educational workshops adapted to their needs, students learn while exploring an environment most of them have never seen before.

By the end of the program, the students have developed social connections that foster self-esteem. They are more open to others and our community and better prepared for their role as future citizens.

To wrap up their week of discovery and creativity, the students proudly present their achievements in a Museum exhibition attended by family and friends.

A Word From Our Donor

“Valero Energy recognizes the McCord Museum’s educational vocation, which, through its A Week at the Museum program, offers students a chance to have different learning experiences complementary to what is done at school. We are pleased to see the children proudly display their projects. Our role as a company is to support original and creative initiatives that inspire our young citizens!”
