Journées de la culture – School Groups

J’aime les mots

Do you like memes? You’ll love J’aime les mots! The McCord Stewart Museum and Les Journées de la culture are inviting young Quebecers and Francophones to celebrate language and play with words for the 29th edition of Les journées de la culture.

Teachers, librarians, those in charge of extracurricular or leisure activities, take part in J’aime les mots, a fun, creative key activity. Whether you’re teaching French, history, art, drama, math or any other subject, get your students to create memes to express themselves on issues big and small, or to react to current events.

The artist who will sponsor the 8th edition is Yves P. Pelletier!

Who? J’aime les mots is meant for Québec students and francophones.

When? The activity will take place from Friday, September 26, to Friday, October 24, 2024

How? By creating original memes based on over a hundred artworks straight from the collections of Canada’s major cultural institutions. Engravings, photos, paintings and artefacts of all kinds provide endless possibilities to play with.
