Summer Pause 2024

Please note that the Museum’s Day Camp will be put on hiatus in the summer of 2024. Major renovations will be made to the spaces allocated to the camp, with the aim of significantly improving participants’ experience.

Themes

Theme 1: Face to Face

Inspired by the playful and colourful universe of artist Joannie Lafrenière, campers will have fun inventing characters and creating self-portraits. Every day, they’ll discover new figures through contemporary photos in the Hochelaga — Evolving Montreal exhibition and black and white photos from the Museum’s archives. An enriching exploration of self, others and portrait art.

Theme 2: All the Colours of Montreal

Inspired by the early paintings and digital works in the Becoming Montreal — The 1800s Painted by Duncan exhibition, campers will shape their concept of the city through a range of media. By immersing themselves in scenes from 19th-century Montréal, they’ll let their imagination run wild to envision the city’s development and the lives of the people who lived here. A week of artistic creativity and historical discoveries in all the colours of Montréal!
