Afro and Indigenous Fashion Night | Montreal Fashion Week

On Friday, September 25, join us for Montreal Fashion Week’s signature event, brought to life through a collaboration between the McCord Stewart Museum and the Centre culturel afro-canadien de Montréal (CCAM). 

For one exceptional evening, discover local designers who draw on their roots, cultural heritage and influence to reimagine contemporary fashion.

Afro and Indigenous cultures come together through shared knowledge, heritage and practices that inspire contemporary creativity. Through fashion, the event will explore these connections, shining a light on emerging materials, technical innovations, and the ways creative practices, knowledge-sharing and craftsmanship influence one another.

Program

• 6 p.m.: Doors open and event begins 
• 6:30 to 7 p.m.: Fashion show hosted by Willy B. Rose
  Fashion designers: Valéry Larouche | KeiraGadbois | Jeanninova Officiel | House of Jamaah | Ndoptrend
  Artistic direction by Arlette Ehode, Meriem Rial and Maria-del-Mar Sarmiento.
  
• 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.: Panel discussion bringing together multidisciplinary artists to explore questions of creativity and identity. With Franck Kemayou (Ndoptrend), Keira Gadbois and Willy B.Roses. Limited seating. 
• 7:30 to 10 p.m.: Designers’ market with Wachiya | Jeanninova Officiel | House of Jamaah | Jeanienova officiel | Valérie Larouche | Keira Gadbois | Ndoptrend
• Throughout the evening: Music by Mr Njem and PØPTRT, bar and food on site ($), and access to the exhibitions Indigenous Voices of Today: Knowledge, Trauma, Resilience and On the Menu – Montreal: A Restaurant Story 
• 10 p.m.: Event ends
