Press Release

Montreal, April 23, 2025 – At the most recent Grand Prix of the Conseil des arts de Montréal (CAM) awards gala, the McCord Stewart Museum was granted the Télé-Québec Audience Award for the finalist with the most votes from the public. This distinction demonstrates Montrealers’ support and enthusiasm for the Museum’s mission. The Télé-Québec Audience Award comes with a $10,000 grant.

“Receiving this recognition is a huge privilege and source of pride for our staff, partners, volunteers and the members of the Boards of Directors of both the Museum and its Foundation. This award is a testament to the relevance of our mission, to the deep attachment of Montreal’s inhabitants to their history and their museum, and to the commitment, talent and passion of the Museum’s entire team,” says Anne Eschapasse, President and CEO. “On behalf of the Museum, I would like to warmly thank the CAM, and to all the people who have let us know that we matter in their lives and in their hearts. I would also like to salute the exceptional work of the other winners and finalists, whose bold and inspiring initiatives are the lifeblood of our arts scene.”

As a finalist in the 39th Grand Prix of the CAM, the McCord Stewart Museum was recognized by the jury for its innovative exhibitions that unite audiences of all backgrounds around Montreal’s living history. In particular, they mentioned the exhibition Wampum: Beads of Diplomacy as “a milestone in Indigenous representation,” and the Artist-in-Residence series for “the essential dialogue that it creates between past and present.”
